Dear Volunteer 'שי:

You are the best! But did you know you can be even better? In fact the 7 weeks or 49 days between Pesach and Shavuot are all about making the greatest people, even better! These days, called Sefirat HaOmer, were the days in which, the Jewish people worked to prepare themselves for receiving the Torah on Mt. Sinai, working for 49 days to improve their 49 strands of personality - one day, one strand, until they were ready to become G-d's people. Although that was back in the day, we retrace that journey and work on ourselves for these same 49 days and on the same 49 strands of our personalities.

Ok, easy, 7 weeks till the greatest me, you say?  I'm there, I'm on it. I'll get started now....oh wait - how do I do it?

By continuing and adding in what your greatest at; helping others!

In the words of the first Chabad Rebbe, "Through Tzedaka (helping others) a person's mind and heart become refined 1000 fold." When we become attuned to the needs of others and discover how to alleviate their situation in some way we have also enhanced our own personality and become more refined people.

So keep up all your great work; it's helping EVERYONE!

F@H Tips

As the summer nears and we're counting down till summer break; try out some of these counting activities.

• Count together, alternate so each of you says every other number. To add a "twist" make this a physical activity by throwing or bouncing a ball every time you say a number.

• Try counting to 10 and as your friend counts, you jump and make a sound. Let them know they "control" how fast you jump depending on how quickly or slowly they decide to count. This shows them how to follow and give instructions while staying in control of their own choices. Continue...
